James Janos, Governor of Minnesota
|Born July 15 1952 (or 1951?) in Minneapolis, Minnesota as James George Janos (pron. yah-nosh)|
|The career as a
wrestler for Jesse "The Body" Ventura took a lot of historic twists and turns.
Along the way Ventura ended up as a World Class color commentator; where he would enter
into the Hall of Fame as one of the best the sport has ever seen.
Jesse Ventura was a decent wrestler, and teamed with Adrian Adonis in the old AWA, as part of the East-West connection. He also at one time was involved in a historic feud with Hulk Hogan in the World Wrestling Federation. Ventura quickly became one of the big heels that the WWF could utilize against the popular Hulk Hogan. Ventura was good with the microphone and got himself over in that respect. The World Wrestling Federation allowed Ventura to do a talk-show segment patterned after 80's legend "Rowdy" Roddy Piper (Piper's Pit) called "The Body Shop". It was short lived but remained one of the great segments ever in WWF history.
Shortly in 1987-88, Jesse Ventura's wrestling career was cut short. The official reason that was addressed was that he had been exposed to "agent orange" in Vietnam and due to health reasons could no longer wrestle.
Ventura was offered a color commentating job with the World Wrestling Federation and he took it. Ventura quickly became the greatest color man the sport has ever seen. He would wind up as the co-host of Prime Time Wrestling on the USA Network with Gorilla Monsoon.
As Ventura's Hollywood career began to reach new heights, he began to appear less and less on WWF television. He was taken off of Prime Time Wrestling when he was filming a movie with Schwarzenegger, and never returned to Prime Time Wrestling. Eventually, the relationship with titan and Ventura took a turn for the worse, and Ventura was out of the WWF lime light.
Ventura retired from the sport of pro-wrestling for a while, and ventured into the world of politics, eventually winning an election to the position of Mayor of where he had settled down, Brooklyn Park, Minnesota.
Ventura got a call from World Championship Wrestling, and
decided to make a return to the world of color commentating. Ventura worked for WCW for a
few years, and he once again retired from wrestling into obscurity.
